UNDERSTANDING THE DISTINCTION: WORD AND PHRASE ALIGNMENT

Abstract

Word and phrase alignment in natural language processing (NLP) plays a crucial role in various tasks such as machine translation, text summarization, information retrieval, and sentiment analysis. Parallel texts of parallel corpus, where content exists in multiple languages, offer a treasure trove for language processing tasks like translation and dictionary development. But extracting meaning from these texts involves aligning corresponding units across languages. While both aim to bridge the language gap, they differ in their approach and scope.
